House of the Rising Sons

兄弟班

This turbo-charged '70s Hong Kong flashback chronicles the meteoric rise of real-life pop sensation The Wynners. From their humble beginnings as the neighborhood nuisance “garage band” to forging the careers of two of Asia’s biggest stars of the era, they rocked out on a roller-coaster ride of life’s ups and downs. Directed by the band’s drummer Antony Chan and featuring contemporary musicians in the cast, this nostalgic ode to youthful rebellion, friendship, and chasing your dreams is a glorious pastiche of style and sound.\n\nPerformance by Win Win Magic with the kind support of Caroda Inc.

Antony Chan is the drummer of legendary Hong Kong teen-idol band The Wynners, formed in 1973 together with Alan Tam, Kenny Bee, Bennett Pang and Danny Yip. In the 1980s, he formed Go Go Films and produced and directed hit comedies, including A Fishy Story (1989) starring Maggie Cheung as an aspiring actress and former bandmate Bee as her taxi driver neighbor. The romantic comedy proved a creative turning point for Cheung, winning her Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards. After more than two-and-a-half decades, House of the Rising Sons marks Chan's return to the directing chair.
