Beauty Water

기기괴괴 성형수

Available: Sept. 3 ONLY, New York State ONLY

Beauty Water is a plastic surgeon’s wet dream that gives plain Jane Yaeji a shot at turning her life and career around. A chance encounter puts this extraordinary skincare product in the young woman’s eager hands. It magically makes skin sculptable, allowing the ugly duckling to transform herself into a drop dead gorgeous model. Soon, her insatiable desire for beauty becomes the stuff of nightmares. A warped fantasy that mutates body dysmorphic disorder into body horror, this animated shocker grabs for the heart only to melt the soul.

This might just be golden age of Korean pop culture, and Beauty Water is one of its manifestations. Based on a short story from the popular Korean webtoon anthology Tales of the Unusual, this is Korea being basically good at everything these days: pop, arthouse genre and yes horror animation.
