Sabu returns to NYAFF with a ghostly comedy sure to please fans of his trademark blend of merriment and mayhem. When a faded dancehall is slated for demolition, developer Kenji is assigned the task of exorcising the spirit of its former owner, the eponymous Mary. Fortuitously, he meets a high school girl who can see the dead. To complete their mission they must confront tempestuous Taiwanese gangsters and a legendary hitman (Ishibashi, having a field day) to find Mary’s beau, Johnny, the key to their goal. Then all hell breaks loose when the still-living yakuza arrive.
